2025年11月6日（木）に、本研究部、総合教育部、新渡戸カレッジ教育推進部（代表：亀野　淳 教授）、ソウル大学校学部大学（SNU College）（代表：ソン・ジヨン 教授）は、第28回北海道大学－ソウル大学校ジョイントシンポジウムにおいて分科会を開催しました（参加人数：北大11名、ソウル大7名）。

今回の分科会のテーマは、「Social contribution through an interdisciplinary and pragmatic university model: Innovation, convergence, challenge, and proposals for a new university role」（「学際的・実用主義的な大学モデルを通じた社会貢献：革新・融合・挑戦、新たな大学の役割に関する提案」 ）です。

本テーマは、両大学が共通して「レイト・スペシャライゼーション」（注：「入学後に専門を選択させる方式」（福留，2018））を積極的に導入している点に着目して設定されたものです。北大では、2011年度から「総合入試」という形で「レイト・スペシャライゼーション」制度を導入しております。ソウル大においても、2009年度からの自由専攻学部を設置したのち、2025年には、レイト・スペシャライゼーションを前提とした「学部大学（SNU College）」を新設するなど、両大学は共通点を有しています。

本分科会では、この「レイト・スペシャライゼーション」に関する、制度、学習支援、特色のある教育プログラムの3つの側面から議論を深め、両大学からそれぞれ3件ずつ、計6件の発表が行われました。さらに、来年度のソウル大学校での分科会の開催、共同研究の推進、若手研究者の交流、共同教育プログラムの開発など、今後の協力に向けた具体的な意見交換も行われました。
